Hi, I'm

Ashlyn

Portland family, maternity and newborn photographer serving Portland, Oregon and surrounding areas. Mama, gardener, jiu jitsu blue belt, and someone who will absolutely make you feel like we've been friends for years by the end of our session.

I'm really glad you're here.

Portland Family Photographer

I got into this because I understand what it feels like not to have the photos.

I want your kids to grow up and be able to see it. All of it. The way you looked at them. The way your home felt on a Tuesday afternoon. The way your family just was in this season of life. Those images shouldn't live on a phone. They deserve a wall, an album, and to become a story your grandchildren can hold in their hands someday. That’s what this is really about for me.

I want something different for your family.

My approach to Family Photography

I've spent a lot of time thinking about what makes a photograph actually move you. And it's almost never the perfect pose. I focus on calm, guided sessions that are centered around connection not perfection. It's the glance between a parent and a child. It's the way a toddler reaches up for a hand. It's the chaos and the tenderness all wrapped up in one frame.

So that's what I'm after when we're together. I'll give you gentle direction and prompts but mostly I'm going to give you space to just be with each other. I'll handle the rest.
I'm also a film photographer, shooting 35mm in addition to digital because I want your images to feel as timeless as the moments inside them. No trends, no filters that date themselves in two years. Just honest, beautiful photographs made to last.

I believe a session should feel like a good family day, not a photoshoot.

When I'm not photographing families I'm probably in my garden with my 26 rose bushes, out for a run, training jiu jitsu, or losing at game night with my family. We are an active, outdoorsy, intentional bunch and we aim for 1,000 hours outside every year.

I have two kids who keep me humble and inspired every single day. Two cats named Maximus and Titus. And a dogo argentino named Harper who thinks she's a lap dog.

A little more about the human behind the camera.

I am always trying to be in the photos too, even on the days I don't feel like it. Because I know one day my kids will just be glad to have them and me too! I’ll be so glad to have these photos to look back on. And honestly, that's the whole point.

I work with a small number of families each season, so I can give every session the time and attention it deserves. If you're thinking about booking, don't wait too long. Whether you're looking for a family session, maternity portraits or newborn photography in Portland, I'd love to be your photographer.
